Under ideal conditions, New Hampshire's maximum speed limits are 30 miles per hour in business or urban residence districts, 35 miles per hour in rural residence districts and specified Class V highways, 45 or 55 miles per hour in other locations, 65 miles an hour on specified divided highways, and 70 miles per hour on the specified portion of I-93. The interstate minimum is 45 mph unless conditions make it unsafe; posted school zones are 10 miles per hour below the usual limit during the stated periods before opening and after closing.
